Introduction to the TimePilot iPhone App

TimePilot's iPhone App, which also runs on the iPad and iPod Touch, can be used two ways:

• If you use TimePilot Central, the software that comes with TimePilot's time and attendance systems, you can send the data collected by your phone to TimePilot Central for processing. You'll also need a dedicated account at Dropbox.com that's linked to the PC on which you use TimePilot Central. Dropbox accounts are free and easy to set up. This help page shows you just what to do.
  
  
• As a standalone app, for those who will not use the app with TimePilot Central. The app collects your employees' clock-ins and clock-outs, calculates the time between the in and the out transactions and keeps count of the total number of hours worked. You can see the hours worked on the phone, or you can export the data collected as a .CSV file, which can be read by a spreadsheet program, if you have a free account at Dropbox.com.

How does it work?

The App's main page shows the list of employees that have been set up on the phone. Just as in TimePilot Central, red arrows mean the employee is clocked in. The date and time of the employee's most recent clock-in or -out appears under his or her name, and their accumulated hours (the time between clock-ins and clock-outs) is shown to the right of the employee's name.

Tapping an employee's name brings up just that person's transactions. At the bottom of the screen is the total of hours worked. Want to delete a transaction? Swipe the offending transaction from left to right or right to left, then tap the "Delete" button that appears.

Ready to send your transactions to TimePilot Central? Just tap the icon in the lower left corner of the main screen and then tap "Send to TimePilot Central." The phone uses either a cellular data connection or a Wi-Fi connection to send the files to your Dropbox account, and from there to TimePilot Central on your PC.
