Vetro Network Mode

What's Vetro Network Mode?

The Vetro time clock system can be used two ways: in Network Mode or in Standalone Mode.

In Network Mode, Ethernet cable is used to connect the clock to your local area network running the TimePilot software. Clock-in and clock-out data—as well as employee names and ID numbers—are transferred to and from the clock via cable.

TimePilot Service Software—installed when you install and set up your first Vetro clock using Clock Manager—controls the transfer of data from the clock to the database. If TimePilot Service isn't running, the software and the clock can't communicate, so the clock holds the employee clock-ins and clock-outs in its memory until the Service is restarted.

TimePilot Service does other things too:

  • It keeps the date and time on your clock synchronized with the date and time on your server.
  • It transmits changes that are made in TimePilot Central's Employee Profiles to the clock.
  • It helps set up additional clocks on your system.

An accessory, the TimePilot Power Over Ethernet Kit, eliminates the need to have a power outlet near the clock. Instead, power is carried through the Ethernet cable that connects the clock to your network. The kit has been tested to perform with network cable as long as 75 feet.
